Misericordia University Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Mission Statement
The office of Mission Integration and Institutional Diversity serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff. The office provides educational programming focused on celebrating diverse cultures, traditions, ideas, and backgrounds in addition to providing opportunities for the campus community to engage in dialogue about inequity and social justice. Programs include speakers, trainings, workshops, community conversations, off-campus trips, and heritage celebrations. Additionally, the office of Mission Integration and Institutional Diversity advocates for underrepresented identities on campus to ensure that all community members feel welcomed on campus.

Misericordia University Physician Assistant Program Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Misericordia University Physician Assistant Program embraces differences within and between groups of people that contribute to variations in habits, practices, beliefs and/or values. We believe that our program is enriched and enhanced by diversity that includes but is not limited to gender identity, race, ethnicity, and national origins, sexuality, age, physical abilities, socioeconomic status and religion. We strive to create an environment in which any individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued to fully participate.
Definition for Diversity: Differences within and between groups of people that contribute to variations in habits, practices, beliefs and/or values. The inclusion of different people (including but not limited to gender and race/ethnicity, age, physical abilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status) in a group or organization. Diversity includes all the ways in which people differ, and it encompasses all the different characteristics that make one individual or group different from another.
Definition of Equity: The implementation of resources that improve or eliminate the remediable difference among diverse groups for all to achieve academic success.
Definition for Inclusion: The active, intentional and ongoing engagement with diversity in ways that increase awareness, content knowledge, cognitive sophistication and empathic understanding of the complex ways individuals interact within systems and institutions. The act of creating involvement, environments and empowerment in which any individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued to fully participate.
