Admissions FAQ's

Professional Licensure and Certification

The Misericordia University Physician Assistant Program satisfies the academic requirements for licensure and NCCPA certification credentials set forth by the State of Pennsylvania. Requirements for licensure and/or advanced practice certification/endorsement eligibility vary from one profession to another and from state to state. For students who wish to practice in a state other than Pennsylvania, please review the following national site that contains state board directories https://www.nccpa.net/state-licensing-boards/.

AAPA State licensing information link:   https://www.aapa.org/advocacy-central/state-advocacy/state-licensing/ for additional licensing information including: List of Licensing Boards, Statutory and Regulatory Requirements for Initial Licensure and License Renewal, and State Laws and Regulations.

Board Certification Information

Misericordia University students who are successful in the completion of all the requirements of the program of study will earn a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree and be eligible to sit for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) for certification. NCCPA will send you an email to set up your NCCPA account where you will find instructions on how to complete an application, submit a $550 payment, and then schedule your exam. After passing PANCE, PAs are issued NCCPA certification and can use the PA-C designation until the certification expiration date (approximately two years).  This examination must be passed in order to practice in all states.

All of the specific details can be found on the NCCPA website: https://www.nccpa.net/become-certified/
